My therapeutic approach...

I offer a warm and gentle manner together with a calm and non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you.  I recognise that each person has their own unique life story and for many coming to a counselling therapy session for the first time may feel uncomfortable and unfamiliar.  I aim to provide a calm therapeutic space for your voice to be heard, whilst also encouraging you to explore new ways forward.

I work in a free flowing manner to support you to make sense of your previous, and ongoing life experience.  The aim is to guide you to connect with your inner wisdom and inner resources.  I believe the healing aspect of therapy often comes from having the space to express and understand hidden aspects of ourselves, within a compassionate therapeutic relationship.  This can often help us to gain greater self awareness and make positive psychological changes.  I also seek to support you to connect mind and body communication so as to tune into the sensory experience of being human.  This can help us to understand our body sensations and emotions and therefore hear them before they begin to communicate via anxiety or uncomfortable physical sensations.

I have been trained in several therapeutic approaches such as Psychodynamic/Relational, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Somatic EMDR, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I often use aspects of these approaches during my sessions and work intuitively and collaboratively with the client to ensure the therapeutic approach feels like the right fit for them.   In essence I work from a relational approach with a focus on somatic experience and mindfulness.
