My therapeutic approach...

I offer a warm and gentle manner together with a calm and non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you.  I recognise that each person has their own unique life story and for many coming to a counselling therapy session for the first time may feel uncomfortable and unfamiliar.

I work in a free flowing manner to encourage you to explore and make sense of your ongoing life experience.  The aim is to support you to connect with your inner wisdom and inner resources.  I believe the healing aspect of therapy often comes from having the space to express and understand hidden aspects of ourselves, within a compassionate therapeutic relationship.  This can often help us to gain greater self awareness and make positive psychological changes.  I also seek to support you to connect mind and body communication so as to tune into the sensory experience of being human.  This can help us to understand our body sensations and emotions and therefore hear them before they begin to communicate via anxiety or uncomfortable physical sensations.

I have been trained in several therapeutic approaches such as Psychodynamic/Relational, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.  I often use aspects of these approaches during my sessions, however I do not believe one size fits all.  Overall, I aim to work alongside you to discover the approach that feels right for you, at this point in your life.
